Buckmore Park Wet Track Guide

Fast footage

This footage was captured during Round 10 of the heavyweight Club100 Sprints. The day started with showers and low ambient temperatures. The track would never dry completely. The video has several laps blended together from the three heats and C final, featuring the best places to overtake in greasy conditions.

Date: Nov, 2023
Conditions: Wet and greasy
Type of video: Overtaking montage

Driver notes

Handy tips for wet weather karting at Buckmore Park
The top of the track, furtherest away from the car park, is slowest to dry. Whereas the areas nearer the car park seem to dry faster and have grippier tarmac.

Overtaking
In the wet, it’s possible to overtake anywhere, as other drivers frequently make mistakes. My preferred locations are either into, or out, of the Hairpin 2, into, or out of Paddock, and into, or out of Garda. The trick is to go wide into the corner, turn the kart as soon as possible, get it pointed straight - then accelerate.

Club100 kart review
Club100 race on slick tyres in the wet - but even so, you can still get a fair lick of speed approaching the top of the track. With 125cc Rotax engines, there’s more than enough power to have a wild time in the wet.

Inside track

Buckmore Park ticks all the boxes. It’s easy to get to, just off the motorway. There’s loads of parking space. Three sets of toilets. two cafes, several spectating spots and a well-kept entertainment space. This is quickly becoming one of my preferred karting spots.
