Rye House Track Guide

Fast footage

Sharing the highs and lows of Club100 Sprint Racing, including an insight into the tuition provided by Club100 during the practice sessions. This video features both the practice (racing alongside the “Slim Jims”) and the whole sprint on Sunday. Mixed racing standards all day, and at times I was “pushed about like a balloon in the crowd.” Loads to learn from this full on race day!

Date: July, 2023
Conditions: Dry
Type of video: Voice over race footage
Camera: GoPro Hero 9 Black

Driver notes

Overtaking:
It is tricky to overtake at Rye House. “If you don’t go forwards, you’ll go backwards!” The best places are if you have a good run down to stadium on the inside, and either late braking into Hairpin 1, or a switchback out of Hairpin 1. That said, I did nail an overtake on the way out of Hairpin 2, as you’ll see in the race heats.

Pro tips:
Rye House is always congested. Stay out of trouble in the heats to maximise your chances in the final.

Kart review

Club100 run de-tuned Rotax 2-stroke engines with Birel chassis and Kelgate brakes.

Inside track

Rye House has a cafe, toilets and overnight paddock, but no hookup. Rye House station is on the Greater Anglia line.
