First time karting in 2024. First time in a DMAX. First time at Daytona Sandown Park Karting… And it was quite chilly - but perfect for setting a fast lap time. The format here was 10 mins qualifying followed by a 20 min race. Enjoy.

Track review:

Next to Sandown Park Racecourse, you’ll find Daytona Sandown Park Karting! Daytona Sandown Park has several track layouts - this was “the classic” layout. Check this guide from Mango Motorsport which features an “alternate” layout.

Best places to overtake:

1/ The first tight hairpin after the first long right hander off the main straight

2/ The hairpin at the end of back straight

General facilities:

This is a first class karting facility. If you’re looking for “Go karting near me” you won’t be disappointed. There are digital timing displays, proper toilets, a nice briefing room and great team.

Kart review:

In terms of rentals, this is about as good as outdoor go karting gets, in the mighty DMAX machines. These are 2-stroke killers, superior to the typical 4-stroke karts more synonymous with rentals. The engines are 125cc Rotax’s that can reach 70 mph on a good day!
